1100 High School Students Convene at Convention Center for Health Career Exploration

The Central Ohio Healthcare Sector Partnership will host over 1,100 high school students from 20 school districts across Central Ohio at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, presenting hands-on activities to drive awareness of five priority healthcare occupations, including respiratory therapist, radiological technologist, surgical technologist, medical assistant, and registered nurse.

To grow the healthcare talent pipeline at scale in Central Ohio, this inaugural event has been launched by the employer-led Central Ohio Healthcare Sector Partnership, which the Workforce Development Board of Central Ohio facilitates. In partnership with the Education Service Center of Central Ohio, this one-day, immersive event will connect emerging talent to healthcare practitioners and regional healthcare educators through memorable experiences and relevant dialogue about career pathways and daily professional life.

Over 85 healthcare professionals lead the Central Ohio Healthcare Sector Partnership, representing employers such as The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Mount Carmel Health System, OhioHealth, Central Ohio Primary Care, PrimaryOne Health, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. These professionals have designed robust activity stations that will be reinforced at the event by secondary and post-secondary institutions that deliver growing education and training programs in healthcare. Post-event engagement will further connect these students to regional career exploration opportunities in various in-demand healthcare fields.

Registration for this event is closed.
