Empowering Employers for Workforce Success

Explore Services and Join Our Upcoming Employer Talks Event

OhioMeansJobs Columbus Franklin County (OMJCFC) kicked off its new Employer Talks event series in December, bringing together local businesses and training providers to share hiring strategies, discuss workforce challenges, and learn about valuable resources. Employer partners such as ODOT and Superior Production LLC and training providers Tolles and NCUS were among the many participants.

Attendees gained insights from industry leaders and connected with OMJCFC staff to discover how the center can help solve real-world recruitment and retention needs.

The session sparked strong interest from several employers eager to collaborate with OMJCFC in hosting workplace tours for students from West High School, Franklin Heights, and Whitehall High School, thelocations of our pilot program High School Job Centers. The tours will provide students with a firsthand look at local career pathways and vibrant opportunities available within our community.

We’re excited to announce the next Employer Talks event, Thursday, February 19th at the OMJCFC Job Center. This is a great opportunity for employers to network, ask questions, and get personalized guidance on maximizing available services. OMJCFC offers a robust suite of services designed to help employers attract, train, and retain top talent – all at no cost. Specific programs covered will include;

  • Job Posting & Recruitment: Post openings on OhioMeansJobs.com and access thousands of job seekers statewide. For example, a local manufacturer filled 10 skilled trade positions in just two weeks using the platform.
  • Hiring Events & Meeting Space: Host virtual or in-person job fairs, interviews, or onboarding sessions at local OMJ centers. Many employers use these spaces for same-day interviews, streamlining their hiring process.
  • On-the-Job Training (OJT): Receive up to 50% wage reimbursement for eligible new hires during training. A logistics company recently hired five new drivers and received reimbursement throughout their training period.
  • Incumbent Worker Training: Invest in your current team with programs that cover up to 90% of training costs. For instance, a tech company upskilled its IT staff in cybersecurity certifications at minimal cost.
  • Tax Incentives: Take advantage of programs like the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC). Employers hiring veterans or individuals from targeted populations can earn meaningful tax savings.
  • Labor Market Insights: Access data on wages, hiring trends, and in-demand occupations to inform your workforce strategy. A healthcare provider used OMJ wage data to recalibrate salaries and attract more qualified nurses.
  • Specialized Programs: Initiatives like TechCred help employers fund technology-focused credentials. Apprenticeships that convert entry-level interest into valuable employment and long-term employees.  Industry Sector Partnerships to build a predictable talent pipeline with standardized training across specific industries.

All services are free of charge, tailored to your business needs, and designed to help you attract, train, and retain exceptional talent. Whether you’re planning your next recruitment push or investing in your current workforce, OhioMeansJobs Columbus Franklin County is your partner for long-term success.
