Veteran
Services

Here at OhioMeansJobs Columbus-Franklin County, veterans receive priority service. Our goal is to shorten the gap between a return from service and your next employment opportunity while ensuring that you are treated with courtesy and respect.

Salute to Service

Through a variety of employment services, we aim to help all veterans and veterans’ spouses overcome unemployment and underemployment. State Veterans Employment Representatives provide intensive services to veterans to address employment barriers and facilitate the hiring process. For those veterans who are ineligible for state services, the OhioMeansJobs Columbus-Franklin County staff offers career advice and job search assistance. When you come into our center, please identify yourself as a veteran so that we may connect you with our Veteran Employment Services.

Employer Engagement

Our OhioMeansJobs Columbus-Franklin County Business Services staff also works with employers to facilitate employment placement or workforce services to ensure that veterans receive maximum access to training and other opportunities. Their primary role is employer outreach on behalf of veterans including:

  • Working with other service organizations to promote the advantages of hiring veterans to employers and employer groups;

  • Marketing job-seeking veterans as individuals who have highly marketable skills and experience;

  • Advocating for veterans with business, industry and other community-based organizations;

  • Job development efforts to increase job opportunities for veterans through direct employer contact; and

  • Planning and participating in job and career fairs.

Veteran Priority of
Service

Business handshake
