At OMJ-CFC, veterans receive priority service. Our goal is to shorten the gap between a return from service and your next employment opportunity while ensuring that you are treated with courtesy and respect.
Through a variety of employment services, we aim to help all veterans and veterans’ spouses overcome unemployment and underemployment. State Veterans Employment Representatives provide intensive services to veterans to address employment barriers and facilitate the hiring process. For those veterans who are ineligible for state services, the OMJ-CFC staff offers career advice and job search assistance. When you come into our center, please identify yourself as a veteran so that we may connect you with our veteran employment services.
OMJ-CFC Business Solutions staff also works with employers to facilitate employment placement or workforce services to ensure that veterans receive maximum access to training and other opportunities. Learn more about our veteran employment services below.
Veterans Employment Network:
The Veterans Employment Network is a weekly networking group for all Franklin County Veterans. No matter what your level or length of service, OhioMeansJobs – Columbus- Franklin County is here to help. Gather with other Veterans to hear transition stories and advice, learn what training and other resources are available, and identify businesses who are ready to hire veterans. Veterans will receive help translating resumes into language employers understand, improving interviewing skills, and an opportunity to talk about the challenges of finding employment and solutions that are available free of charge.
At each networking meeting, there will be an employer conducting face-to- face interviews to fill current open positions. Veterans are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and come dressed in interview attire.
